Backcountry Ski Courses in Monte Rosa – Winter 26/27

Join us for an unforgettable alpine adventure in the spectacular Monte Rosa region,  we will be based in the welcoming Hotel Castor in Champoluc. This vast mountain playground links the resorts of Champoluc, Gressoney and Alagna—with Alagna renowned worldwide for its exceptional off‑piste terrain. This is not just rhetoric, it is truly a massive ski area with  possibility of many many off piste miles under your skis. The lift system is designed to allow easy access to large off piste ski itineraries.

Across six full days of coaching, you’ll develop your backcountry skills, explore untouched snow, and experience the magic of ski touring. We will undertake to improve your off piste technique over your time with us Weather permitting, you’ll also enjoy skinning sessions, guided ski tours, and at least one night in a high‑mountain refuge. With two dedicated coaches throughout, you’ll receive continuous support to elevate your off‑piste confidence and technique.

Course 1 –  Backcountry Skiing

17–22 January 2027

Perfect for newcomers or returning backcountry skiers, this course offers a progressive journey into off‑piste skiing.

• Build strong foundations with on‑piste performance coaching
• Learn essential backcountry skills step by step
• Enjoy a guided overnight expedition to a mountain refuge By the end of the week, you’ll feel confident venturing beyond the marked trails.

Course 2 – Backcountry Exploration

24–29 January 2027

Designed for experienced backcountry skiers eager to chase the best snow and explore deeper into Monte Rosa’s vast terrain.

• Discover the region’s most exciting off‑piste routes
• Refine your technique with expert guidance
• Experience an overnight stay in a remote mountain refuge This is your chance to push further into the wild beauty of the Italian Alps.

Safety, Skills & Mountain Knowledge

All participants receive refreshers in:

• Avalanche awareness
• Transceiver use
• Map reading
• Safe planning and timing ski tours

Our aim is simple: to give you the skills, confidence and knowledge to explore safely beyond the lift‑served areas.

Skiiing Standard: We would expect all participants to be able to ski at a basic parrallel standard or above. If unsure, please contact us prior to booking.

Course Fee

£550 for six days of coaching

Accommodation, flights, transfers and hut fees are not included in the course fee.
